Excavation and Concrete

Foundation Preparation

The Foundation is the most important aspect of a garage. There are some options available:
  • Floating slab (which is most commonly used up to 24 x 24 size).
  • Designed engineered floating slab, (larger than a 24 x 24 size).
  • Wall Grade beam on 4 ft. deep footings.

Sometimes a curb wall can be added to the slab, if the ground is sloped too much. We follow all guidelines outlined by the local municipality on garage foundations. Our concrete always has rebar and fiber added for extra strength, which reduces cracking.

Good framing are the bones of a good building!
All our framing is done in accordance with the Alberta Building codes and all city/town inspections. We use high quality materials and build with care and good workmanship. Wall thicknesses can vary, however most parking garages have 2x4 studs walls, but for a heated shop a 2x6 stud wall makes for a warmer garage. The standard wall height starts at 8 ft. and can go higher, depending on your headroom needs. The walls are anchored through the bottom treated wall plate to the concrete foundation.
We always build the walls with studs spaced at 16" on center for not only it's strength,  but also for convenience,  when you need to hang items on the wall. It's much easier to install shelving and storage cabinets.  All small openings are framed with a 2x8 lintels above, overhead doors 12 ft. and over, all have engineered beams. The Roof trusses start with a standard 4/12 roof pitch, and can be either a  Gable or Cottage style depending on your needs or likes.

Exterior Finish

Roofing, Siding, Soffit, Fascia and Eavestrough

A garage needs to stand up the the harsh elements, sun, wind and rain. That's why we only use high quality exterior products. Not all roofs are equal, for extra protection we use a synthetic liner under the shingles. We use only limited lifetime architectural shingles that can withstand winds of up to 120 mph.
The eaves have aluminum Soffits and Fascia. The eavestroughs are a 5 " continuous aluminum that we color match. We can even put in a leaf guard in if you have a lot of trees, eliminates the hassle of cleaning out the gutters every fall before the snow. Has a 40 year performance warranty.
The Man door is a six panel steel insulated door. Windows are PVC frames with dual glazed panes, comes as a fixed pane or slider.
Most garages we install have vinyl siding, color matching your house color. We can also use hardiplank, hardboard siding and even stucco if desired.

Electrical, Heating

Power Supply

A garage is just not complete without the electrical power.
For a very low cost we can tie into your homes electrical panel to provide the ample power you need. Our journeyman electrician will ascertain whether you have enough room on your house panel or if a subpanel is needed. We do everything for you, city permit, trenching, the rough in, install the final lights. We also install security cameras and motion detectors.

A garage with heat can make all the difference!
Most common way to heat a garage is a ceiling mount furnace or radiant heater. Both require natural gas and can be vented out the exterior wall. We ascertain your gas volume size and the BTU you need for your garage. We will run your gas line from the house and trench to garage. We look after it all, when the cold weather comes you will be so glad you invested in a heater. If gas is not possible for you, then you can always use a thermostatic controlled baseboard heater.

Interior Finishing

Insulation to Painting

The best part of a garage is when its finished.
Nothing nicer than pulling into a warm, finished garage. If the budget allows, it's a good time to take the next step to finish the inside. A warm garage starts with insulation. The attic is batted or blown with R40, the walls with R20 (2x6) or R12 (2x4). We use a acoustical sealant and CGSB 6 Mil. poly and tuck tape the joints before drywall. We also spray foam the doors and windows. We professionally mud, tape and sand all the joints ready for paint. We can do flat or textured ceiling.  Color is the the best part. We use an undercoat/primer on walls plus then two more top coats of latex paint. We finish the trim on your doors and windows and paint them also.
